Inspection Lighting
You cannot correct what you cannot see, and shop fluorescents hide almost everything that matters. Defects have angles: a swirl shows under a point source, a hologram shows under a diffuse one, and residual haze on black only shows at a particular colour temperature.
That is why inspection lights are colour-tunable. Working between roughly 3000K and 6500K reveals different defect classes in the same paint, and a high CRI renders them accurately rather than washing them out. The alternative is finding out in daylight after the customer has left.
